Dear Friends:

Now that the celebration of Holy Week and Easter Sunday have concluded, it is time to thank formally all those who worked so hard to make our parish celebrations so beautiful and meaningful. I want to thank our organist and choir director, Jean Pierre Dumont, as well as the members of our parish choir for the work they did over many months to prepare the hymns and anthems for our celebrations. The Tenebrae service as well as all of the formal liturgical celebrations of Holy Week were simply beautiful. As St. Augustine once said, “He who sings, prays twice,” so our choir, through their hard and dedicated work, helped us all to pray more fervently.

I would also like to thank Mary Kriksciun for the work that she did in preparing the sanctuary for the services of Holy Week. Mary is dedicated and very organized. Without her help, Holy Week would not have been so smoothly and prayer- fully celebrated. I also thank Diane and Tony Candido for their work with the flowers for the altar at Easter at St. Mary’s and I thank Hilma Nolan for her work on the altar and the flowers at St. Agnes. Well done, one and all.

By now, we know that the cardinals with gather to begin the conclave, the formal process of electing a new Pope, this Wednesday, May 7. We do not know how many ballots will be necessary, but we can all hope that when we gather for Mass next weekend, we will have a Pope. All of us can pray for the cardinals in the important work that they undertake, and to that end, I have put into this bulletin a prayer for the cardinals gathered for the election of the Pope. You might pray that prayer today, and each day, until a Pope is elected.

Have a good week!
