Born in Waterbury June 20, 1960, Fr. Donahue is the oldest of seven children. He was educated in parochial schools, attended St. Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield and received his bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Hartford in 1982. He completed studies for the priesthood at St. Mary’s Seminary & University in Baltimore and was ordained December 20, 1986 at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford by Archbishop John F. Whealon. Fr. Donahue was parochial vicar at St. John the Evangelist Parish in Watertown from 1987 to 1990 and then spiritual director andfaculty member at Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury from 1990-1994. He studied in Rome from 1994-1996, receiving his licentiate in sacred theology (S.T.L.) from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (the Angelicum). He served as President-Rector of St. Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield from 1996-2001 and as pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Bloomfield from 1999-2012. He came to St. Mary in Milford in January 2012. Fr. Donahue also currently serves as the Director of Diaconate Formation as well as the Ecumenical Officer for the Archdiocese of Hartford.
